We use food and science to change how dogs think and feel about their fears.

This class is a drop in class, however a 24-hour confirmation is required. This class is held outside, so we are at the mercy of the weather and sometimes it will not be possible to meet.  Cancellation of class based on weather predictions or current conditions will happen anywhere from 24 hours to 30 minutes prior to our meet-up time, you will be alerted via text if class will be canceled. As long as it isn't pouring rain or snowing we will meet.

Please come prepared with enough food to last for the hour (rule of thumb is when you think you have enough reinforcements, double it).

The fee to attend is $10 per team.
About This Class
Reactive Foundations Class is a 1-hour class, for dogs who have already completed 6-weeks of private Counter Conditioning and Desensitization to their trigger(s), and are now able to tolerate being in the presence of other dogs, at a distance that is comfortable enough for them to remain under threshold.

In this class, Human/Dog teams will work on known skills, and learn new skills, working from designated stations, that are color coded. Your color will be assigned to you and never change. Visual barriers will be provided for dogs who may need to take breaks. Dogs will rotate in and out of each others stations, so that POV changes for each dog. Dogs will eventually learn to walk as a group, parade style, first in single lines, then parallel walking, and group hikes.

What You Will Need
Required:
  • A sense of adventure and lots of reinforcements (the high value food that you have been using for CC/DS in private sessions)
  • Water for your dog to drink and a portable bowl
  • A favorite toy for play breaks
  • If your dog is short haired, please provide them with a coat

Optional:
A mat or blanket for your dog to lay on

Be Aware

Because we will be working outside there may be times when we encounter other hikers and their dogs who may be off leash...The "It's okay my dog is friendly" person, who insists their dog is okay to meet yours. While these are real world opportunities, they can also be very problematic --->. Be prepared
